Who We Are
Baljit Atwal, PhD
Founder & Licensed Clinical Psychologist
For the past 25 years, Dr. Atwal has provided forensic and clinical psychological services to the community. In addition to the help she provides to individuals, couples, and families through her clinical psychology practice, she works regularly with professional licensing boards and criminal and civil courts in her forensic practice. Dr. Atwal has provided forensic mental health evaluations, professional consultation, and expert testimony on areas of psychological research affecting individuals and families involved in administrative, family, and immigration legal cases. She has special expertise and understanding in helping those involved in legal proceedings, including plaintiffs, defendants, and licensed professionals facing sanction.
At age 6, she and her parents arrived in the United States from India and she grew up in California. She moved to Lawrence, Kansas, to complete her clinical psychology doctorate, returning to California afterward as it was home. She is a blend of Indian and American cultures and embraces traditions from both. She pursued an education in psychology to satisfy her fascination with human behavior, and loves to understand why people do the things they do. Educated at University of California, Davis, and the University of Kansas, she takes a scientific approach to her clinical and forensic practice, and views many aspects of life through an analytical lens.
Dr. Atwal spends as much time as she can outdoors, walking or hiking with her family and friends whenever possible. In her free time, she enjoys going to local theater performances and reading books that provoke thought and inspire meaningful conversation. A mother to two sons, she likes to surround herself with bright colors and people she cares about.
